The Barbadian star has graced stages throughout the Caribbean as well as the United States and Europe. Though she is held dear as a soca legend, Alison Hinds is truly much more than this. She is a proud cultural ambassador for Barbados and the Caribbean, a motivational speaker, and a committed wife and mother.

Machel Montano

Born November 24, 1974 in Port of Spain Trinidad, Machel Montano was destined to be great. Through his ever-evolving musical offerings, Machel works on his mission of depositing Soca into the domain of mainstream music. Machel’s career began in 1982 at age seven; at age nine he formed his band, Pranasonic Express. Montano’s debut album “Too Young To Soca”, released in 1985, was an instant hit which earned rave reviews and standing ovations at live performances. In April of 1986, the young performer appeared on the popular television show, Star Search, bringing Soca music to US national television.

Patrice Roberts

Patrice Roberts’ journey into the world of Soca music started at a young age, and it quickly became clear that she was destined for greatness. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Patrice was immersed in a culture rich with music and performance. It was in this vibrant environment that her passion for singing and performing was nurtured. Early exposure to the sounds of Soca, Calypso, and other Caribbean genres fueled her desire to pursue a career in music.

Bunji Garlin

Born in Sangre Grande and raised in the Royal Chartered Borough of Arima, Trinidad, Ian Anthony Alvarez better known as Bunji Garlin, is a Trinidadian artist and international soca royalty. He is affectionately known as "de girls dem darlin" (although now married to Faye-Ann Lyons, a fellow performer) and also "fireman" for his famous chant of "Fire!" during his performances. Garlin says he got his stage name from the bungee cord, which is flexible and Garlin is a type of gun with powerful shots. In his own words: "…no matter what they send at me, I will always bounce back."

Nailah Blackman

Nailah Blackman is a Trinidadian singer and composer connected with Soca music, who was born on December 2, 1997. Garfield Blackman, also known as Lord Shorty or Ras Shorty, was her grandfather. Abbi Blackman, her mother, is a calypso singer. She is the niece of Avion and Nehilet Blackman, members of the Los Angeles-based Christian reggae band Christafari. Blackman began singing regularly at the age of five; her professional career started at the age of eleven. She has classical training in vocal and instrumental performance, including the guitar, keyboard, and steelpan. We cannot overlook this talented young star’s achievements.

Lil Rick

With a career spanning over three decades, Lil Rick, the man of many names and even more riddims has become a living legend in Barbados’ musical landscape. Known for his frenetic stage energy, witty lyrics, and crowd-hyping mastery, he’s also a deep thinker, a storyteller, and above all, a humble but proud Bajan son of the soil. He introduces himself like no one else: “Yeah, this is Lil Rick, Rickey Reid, aka the Hypa Dog, Chihuahua Business Man, Board Face, T-111, Ricky Minaj, the people’s boss,” he says with signature swagger. “You done know how we do it. Respect. Every time.”

Edwin Yearwood

Edwin Yearwood is a gifted singer/songwriter and the charismatic lead singer of the band krosfyah, known for his engaging stage presence and ability to connect deeply with audiences. His journey in music began at age 14 when he won the Teen Talent Competition in 1983, showcasing his extraordinary talent from a young age. In 1995, he achieved an unprecedented feat in the Barbados carnival scene by winning the Calypso Monarch, Party Monarch, and Tune of the Crop Monarch, a record that remains unbeaten.
Yearwood's success continued with international recognition, including being awarded the keys to the city of Boston in 1996 and receiving Trinidad's Best Song award for ‘All Aboard’ in 1997. He made history again in 1998 by winning the ‘World Soca Monarch Title’ and in 2001 by claiming the Road March title at the Kadooment festival in Barbados with a slow jam, a rare achievement.
